Ingredients

  • 100 ml milk + 20 g premium flour

  • 360 g premium flour

  • 50 g sugar

  • 7 g dry yeast

  • 5 g salt

  • 1 egg

  • 130 ml milk

  • 80 g softened butter

  • 250 g almond cream (you can use any nut butter you like, chocolate cream, or even jam)

  • Almond flakes for decoration

  • 1 egg for brushing the dough

  • Honey for syrup

    Important

We start by preparing a cream from flour and milk - heat the 100 ml of milk on the stove and when it starts to boil, add 20 grams of flour and stir until thickened. Let it cool. Meanwhile, sift the flour, add the salt, sugar, and dry yeast, and mix.

Incorporate the egg and lukewarm milk and start kneading well until you get a homogeneous dough. Add the milk cream and the cooled flour and knead the dough for 5 minutes. Gradually add the softened butter while kneading the dough very well until it becomes elastic and no longer breaks.

Put the dough in an oiled bowl and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, until it doubles in volume. Roll out the risen dough with a rolling pin and spread almond cream over it. You can also use other types of cream, such as nut cream, chocolate cream, or jam.

Fold the dough in half, cut strips from the dough, twist and braid until you get a roll. Place the rolls in a tray lined with baking paper and let them rise for another 40-50 minutes. Brush them with beaten egg before placing them in the oven, sprinkle almond flakes on top, and bake at 160 degrees Celsius for 50-55 minutes, until they are nicely browned.

After removing them from the oven, brush them with honey and serve them with a cup of coffee!
